Operations Recommence at Edinburgh Airport After Significant ATC System Failure

Passenger services have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a substantial ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were stopped because of an IT issue that arose around 08:30.

Some passengers were left waiting in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.

Operations Restart with Residual Impact

Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

Nonetheless, considerable delays are likely to persist for some time. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with a host of additional flights subject to postponements.

Officials had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be disrupted.

"Flyers are asked to get in touch with their carrier for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.

Cause of the Chaos

Officials linked the operational halt to an systems failure with its control tower systems vendor.

Passengers continue to be advised to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport as residual delays are cleared.
