Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
